BlackBerry released BBM for iPhone a couple of days ago.
Open BBM's "Chats'' tab and long tap the user whose message thread was causing crashes until a sidebar appears
Tap the trash can to delete your current chat thread, and start anew one. We now be able to chat with the person without crashes.
